Doing Good Together
Doing Good Together is a limited collaboration between JOURNEY, TOUCHpoint@Yishun 436, and TOUCH Centre for Independent Living (TCIL) (Ubi). Forged in commemoration of SG60, the collaboration celebrates the spirit of togetherness, with the aim of fostering an inclusive and caring society.
As part of the collaboration, JOURNEY Special Artists, the seniors of TOUCHpoint@Yishun 436, and special needs clients under the care of TCIL (Ubi) have designed Singapore-inspired artwork featured on items curated for the exclusive Doing Good Together Care Kits.
Each Care Kit comprises a sling bag, water bottle, towel and exercise band, aimed at encouraging moments of wellness amongst those who receive it. These commemorative Care Kits are available for purchase for individual use and gifting, offering members of the community the opportunity to contribute to a worthy cause.
Proceeds from the sale of the Care Kits go towards supporting the work of JOURNEY as well as seniors and persons with special needs under TOUCH’s care.

About the artists
Mdm Karen Lim finds her creative outlet in acrylic painting and intricate paper and bead crafts. Describing herself as joyful, positive, and friendly, Mdm Lim cherishes memories of visiting the zoo with her siblings as a child. Today, she still enjoys the company of animals at the Zoo and Bird Park. Her dream is to exhibit her art in a gallery or community centre, so others in Yishun and beyond can enjoy her vibrant creations.
He is no longer the reserved person he once was and is now able to give a brief introduction about himself. Zhiyu also creates artwork that carry his unique perspective of life, such as iconic playgrounds in Singapore. Zhiyu is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
While Chiang Yong is a lively person who proudly shares his enthusiasm for his art, he is also a true gentleman, always responsible and helpful in lending a helping hand to his peers. Chiang Yong is a family person and he is close to his mother. He enjoys spending time with her during the weekends. Chiang Yong is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability, Visual and Speech Impairment.
Being exposed to different art forms has helped Emily develop a better appreciation for the use of colours in her art. She hopes that her paintings can make people happy. Emily is diagnosed with Down Syndrome.
Jun Quan also has a keen interest in technology and enjoys drawing IT-related items, such as computers and smartphones in his artwork. Jun Quan is diagnosed with Down Syndrome.
Community Stories
Instead of drizzling olive oil over golden, crusty pizzas or carefully watching over a pot of rich tomato sauce bubbling with melted cheese, Mdm Murtha Jothi now spends her time meaningfully playing Rumi-O, exercising, and honing her artistic and Anklung skills at TOUCHpoint@Yishun 436, an Active Ageing Centre.
At the start of this year, the couple was invited to join “Doing Good Together” – a SG60 project that involves seniors and special artists from JOURNEY, a brand under TOUCH that showcases the artistic talents of people with intellectual disabilities. Its goal is to co-create heartfelt artworks in celebration of Singapore’s 60th birthday to raise funds for TOUCH.
